Wedding ceremonies for the theatre obsessive like me.

I am obsessed with THEATRE. There. I’ve said it. There’s a whole bunch of us out there who live, breathe and eat it. Having been an actor myself, I get it. It flows in your veins, but instead of blood, it’s the complete cast recording of the Jesus Christ Superstar concept album, or Hamlet’s Act II, Scene 2 soliloquy.

But here’s the thing. You’ve recently got engaged, but HOW on earth do you weave your theatre obsession into your ceremony? Well, here are 5 theatrical jumping-off points to get the juices flowing:

get on it with a sonnet

Your favourite piece from a play, or how about a sonnet? They’re short, sweet, packed with meaning and 14 lines of pure theatrical gold. Sonnets are also great for the nervous speaker as they’re not long and it doesn’t have to be Shakespeare either. There are tonnes of poets out there who love the 14-line medium.

theme it like ya mean it

Take inspiration from your theatre merch. Turn your favourite theatre programmes or ticket stubs into vow booklets or menu cards. FAB-U-LOUS!

everyone is welcome here

Choosing a celebrant-led ceremony leaves you free to be your full, glorious, authentic selves. So, have you got a show whose values you align with, adore and that reflects who you truly are? Signpost and include quotes, readings and themes around them. There’s ‘No Day Like Today!’.

‘sing out louise!’

Everybody UP. This is your time to shine, so ditch the hymns and channel your inner Tracey Turnblad instead by getting everyone up on their feet to ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’ from Hairspray instead. An absolute theatrical banger.

HIRE ME AS YOUR CELEBRANT

Of course, there are a whole load of other things we could do – a show tune playlist and Musical Theatre Bingo whilst the guests arrive, a live musical theatre medley, and you could offer Theatre Tokens as gifts for your loved ones who have helped out.

Does this sound like your jam? ‘Cause it’s definitely mine. I was an actor for 15 years, and for the past 20 years, I’ve been on the other side of the curtain in Sales and Marketing for a whole host of West End shows, so I bring a big dollop of fun, experience, and trust to my ceremonies.

Get in touch for a free no obligation chat to find out how, together, we can turn all your theatrical dreams into brilliant reality.
