What a Celebrant-Led Ceremony Means

What a Celebrant-Led Ceremony Means

Here's the beautiful thing about independent celebrants: total freedom.

Unlike registry office ceremonies, we're not restricted by time slots, set scripts, or what we can and can't include. Your ceremony can be anywhere – a historic East London venue, a glamping site in the countryside, your favorite local pub, a friend's garden. Literally anywhere that's meaningful to you.

You choose the music, the readings, the rituals, the vibe. Want to include your dog? Sorted. Want everyone dancing in the aisles? Let's do it. Want to honour loved ones who can't be there? We'll weave that in beautifully.

The only thing you'll need is to handle the legal bit separately (a quick 10-minute signing at your local register office with two witnesses). Then we get to focus on creating a ceremony that's all about celebrating your love.

The Process – How We Work Together

  • Logo-Element-Star

    Step 1: Initial Chat

We meet (virtually or in person) for a no-obligation introduction. You get to ask questions, I get to hear about your plans, and we both figure out if we're a good fit.

  • Logo-Element-Star-white

    Step 2: Booking

Once booked and deposit received, my calendar will be blocked out for that date and no other bookings taken.

  • Logo-Element-Star-pink

    Step 3: Planning Your Ceremony

We’ll get together for a planning session to discuss your vision. This is where I really get to know you as a couple. Want something traditional? Contemporary? Somewhere in between? This is where we figure it out together. Following this chat, I’ll send over my couples questionnaire. Take your time with these - they’re designed to capture all the lovely details about your relationship.

  • Logo-Element-Star-red

    Step 4: Script Creation

I'll disappear and work my magic, crafting a ceremony script that tells your story beautifully. You'll receive the first draft at least two months before your wedding.

  • Logo-Element-Star-white

    Step 5: Refinements

Read through the script, sit with it, share it with each other. Then we'll make any tweaks or changes until it's absolutely perfect.

  • Logo-Element-Star

    Step 6: Your Big Day

I'll arrive early, chat with your photographer and other suppliers, and then deliver a ceremony that celebrates your love authentically.

Ceremonies for Every Chapter of Love

Ceremonies for Every Chapter of Love

Every ceremony is unique, but here are some styles I'm particularly excited to work on:

  • Logo-Element-Star

    Creative Town and City Weddings

East London venues with character, history, and a bit of theatricality. Think old tram sheds, music halls, scout huts turned event spaces. Medium-sized celebrations where we can be intimate and fun.

  • Logo-Element-Star-orange

    LGBTQ+ Celebrations

Love is love, and I'm passionate about creating ceremonies that truly celebrate your relationship in all its authentic glory.

  • Logo-Element-Star-pink

    Intimate Elopements

Just you, your partner, and a handful of loved ones. Small but mighty celebrations that pack an emotional punch.

  • Logo-Element-Star-red

    Second Marriages

Celebrating new chapters deserves just as much joy and creativity.

Unique Elements I Love Including

  • Logomark-Full-Colour

    Ring Warming

Pass your rings around your guests during the ceremony, so everyone can hold them, make a wish, and infuse them with love and positive energy.

  • Logomark-Full-Colour

    Celtic Stone Ceremony

A stone is blessed by friends and family, then either tossed into the sea, a pond or lake, or kept in a special place in your home or garden, filled with all that lovely energy from your people.

  • Logomark-Full-Colour

    Hand Fasting

Symbolising the joining of hands - a physical embodiment of togetherness in front of family and friends, using thread, ribbon, tartan or any material with colours that mean something to you.

  • Logomark-Full-Colour

    Songs and Readings

Film quotes, poetry, song lyrics, passages from books you love – anything that means something to you can be woven in.

  • Logomark-Full-Colour

    Honouring Loved Ones

Beautiful ways to include people who can't be with you, whether through memory, symbolic gestures, or special mentions.

Make it special

The heart of any ceremony is the ring exchange – that moment when you make your promises to each other. But there are so many other ways to make your ceremony special.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to do anything legal separately?

Yes – in England, independent celebrants can't legally marry you (yet!), so you'll need to do a quick signing at your local register office with two witnesses. It usually takes about 10 minutes. Then we get to focus on the fun bit – your actual ceremony celebration.
